Approximate Seeds per Packet: 50
Variety/Hardiness: Annual
Sunlight: Full sun
Mature Height: 34-40"
Germination: 10-14 days at 21-22°C
Sowing:
Transplant (recommended): Start seeds 6 - 8 weeks before the last frost, sowing 1/8" deep. Transplant out after the last threat of frost has passed but in good time. Establish plantings early to avoid short stems.
Direct Seeding: Plant directly in the garden once soil temperature is 18-21°C and threat of frost has passed. Thin seedlings as needed.
Care: Use of horizontal netting can prevent flopping. Pinching not necessary. Asters are very prone to Aster's Yellow, so we tend to strip off any unsightly foliage when we are preparing to design with them.
Harvesting:
Fresh: Harvest when flowers are already starting to open for longest vase life. Adding flower preservative to their water will prolong their vase life.
Dried: Harvest when flowers are fully open. Hang to dry.
