2023 Lily Stone Charity Fundraiser

On Saturday, August 26, 2023, Lily Stone Gardens & Cafe hosted our Among the Night Garden charity fundraiser event, in support of Willow Place Inc., which is a shelter and family violence prevention resource located in Winnipeg, MB. As a team at Lily Stone, comprised mainly of women, we believe strongly in the value of empowering and protecting women, and in creating supportive and safe environments for children to from up in.

Lily Stone Gardens and Cafe is a family-owned business that has blossomed, grown, and is now collectively led by a team of fiercely independent, driven, and resourceful women who bring a wealth of diverse knowledge to our team. As a group, we feel compelled to use our platform to spread good in our communities near and far, and to work towards the further empowerment of women in Manitoba.

As a team, we were absolutely delighted to see so many familiar faces (friends, family, community members, business connections) who came out to support this important cause. It is always hard to express in words how much it means to us that you all believe in these projects just as much as we do and embrace them with open arms.

We are extremely pleased to announce that with the support of our friends, partners, and community members, we collectively raised $10,000 in support of Willow Place's many essential services. This is an amazing example of what can be achieved when communities join together to create change!

Willow Place offers emergency housing for women and children, a family violence phone and text line, outreach counseling, support, follow-up services, public education, and men’s services as well.

Willow Place is a registered Canadian charity and is a member of ShelterSafe Canada, the Manitoba Association of Women’s Shelters (MAWS), the Family Violence Consortium of Manitoba, Women’s Shelters Canada, and Gender Equity Manitoba’s network of family violence prevention supports.

Willow Place operates 38 shelter beds 365 days per year, but demand for these services often exceeds Willow Place's operational capacity. As a result, Willow Place's most pressing need is to expand their shelter program to meet the needs of the community.  

While Willow Place is located in Winnipeg, families from all over Manitoba access their services. Even though Lily Stone is located outside of Winnipeg, we understand how interconnected our Manitoba community is and that we are all better off when we take care of one another when we need it most.

At Lily Stone, we see the immense value that Willow Place provides in our province by being a space for women and children to turn to when home is no longer a safe space. All proceeds from this fundraising event have been donated to Willow Place to support them in providing a safe space for women and children, and to propel them towards expanding their shelter and housing capacity.
