Yarrow is a beautiful flat topped perennial that adds unique color and lacy texture to any bouquet. We use lots of yarrow in our wedding designs as filler! The Colorado mix has shades of red, pink, apricot, cream, yellow and white.
Approximate Seeds per Packet: 100
Variety/Hardiness: Perennial (hardy to Zone 2)
Sunlight: Full sun, with some tolerance of part-shade
Mature Height: 28″ – 30″
Germination: 10-14 days at 18-22°C. Do not cover seed; light is required for germination. A thin layer of fine vermiculite can be used to retain moisture, if preferred.
Sowing:
Transplant (recommended): Sow indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost. Bottom water of mist to avoid displacing soil. Harden off and transplant.
Direct Seeding: Direct seed in late spring after last frost.
Care: May require supports for straight stems. Divide every 3-4 years to maintain vigor.
Harvesting:
Fresh: Cut blooms when all heads on the stem are fully open. If there are any flowers on the stem that are unopened, the stems will wilt. Adding flower preservative in the water will prolong their vase life.
Dried: Harvest when flowers are fully open. Hang to dry.
