Have you ever wanted to be able to walk in your garden and cut yourself a weekly fresh bouquet during the summer months? Harvesting the familiar fragrance of your grandmother's sweet peas and peonies could be your newfound obsession that feeds your creative soul!
Come spend a morning learning basic techniques on how to grow and maintain your own small-scale cut flower garden for your enjoyment! Together we will create a basic garden plan outlining the specific varieties that will allow you to enjoy blooms throughout Manitoba's growing season. We will touch on topics such as; tried-and-tested cut flower varieties, direct seeding vs pre-starting seeds, garden mapping & variety placement, proper harvesting techniques, and how to get the longest vase life from your homegrown flowers.
We will also touch on how we start and grow some trickier varieties like ranunculus and anemones. Please don't feel like you need to be a master gardener for this workshop, with a little guidance and a little love anyone can harvest (literally!) the pleasure that gardening can provide.
If there is a specific topic or question that you are looking to have answered in this workshop, please include your area(s) of interest in the notes section at checkout. We can do our best to tailor the day's agenda to match the group's areas of interest to make sure it is an educational and productive day for all!
Each workshop participant will go home with a starter cut flower kit carefully curated by the Lily Stone team, including seeds, trays, and more!
