These tall spiky blooms add elegance and color to any garden! With delicate florets blooming along their stem, they are a show stopper! In a beautiful shade of blue with a white center, this is a great way to add tones of blue to your flowerbed. Plus, they are perennials so you can enjoy them year after year! We love to use cut delphinium in floral arch pieces!
May rebloom again in fall!
Approximate Seeds per Packet: 25
Sunlight: Full sun, with some tolerance of part shade in the high heat of summer
Mature Height: 3-5′
Germination: 10-20 days at 18-21°C. You can place your seed packet in the freezer 2 weeks before seeding for better germination.
Transplant (recommended): Sow indoors 10-12 weeks before last frost. Cover seeds lightly.
Direct Seeding: Not recommended.
Care: Use of horizontal netting or other supports may be desired to ensure plants do not flop, especially in windy areas.
Fresh: Harvest stems that have 1/4 to 1/3 of blooms open from the bottom of the stem. Blooms will continue opening up the stem after harvesting.
Dried: Delphinium stems tend to hold their colour well once dried, although have a tendency to shatter and drop petals. Great for a colourful inclusion in dried petal confetti. Harvest stems that are fully open and hang upside down to dry.
