The perfect filler flower! Multi-branched stems topped with mini daisy-like blooms. Magic Single is so cheerful and adds whimsy to any bouquet or arrangement.
Also referred to as Chamomile, Matricaria, or Tanacetum.
Approximate Seeds per Packet: 20
Variety/Hardiness: Tender Perennial Zones 5 to 9 (Note: For best stem production, feverfew is best treated as an annual, as we do here in Zone 3)
Sunlight: Full Sun
Mature Height: 28-36”
Germination: 10-14 days at 21°C
Sowing:
Transplant (recommended): To sow indoors, start 5-7 weeks before the last frost date. Press seeds into the soil but do not cover as light is required for proper germination. Bottom water or mist to avoid displacing soil and covering seed until germination has occurred. Harden off and transplant out when all threats of frost have passed.
Direct Seeding: Not recommended.
Care: No special care required.
Harvesting:
Fresh: When harvesting, choose blooms that are 75% open. Cut low and deep into the plant to encourage branching and long stems in the future. Flowers that are cut too early tend to wilt. Adding flower preservative in their water will prolong their vase life.
Dried: Magic Single is not a great variety for drying as it does not maintain its shape when hung to dry. You could experiment with pressing or other preservation methods. Instead, try Virgo. Cut stems when fully open and hang to dry.
